Autism Interrupted

Life goes by day by day with its ups and downs.  Milestones like birthdays, graduations, weddings, and births flow from one into another along with the normal life crisis.  For some people, the whole flow is interrupted by a special event which changes the flow to a different direction than ever expected.  Sometimes these special events take on a life of their own, demanding the attention of everyone.

Autism is one of these ‘events’.  Luckily, it is more easily recognizable and diagnosed in our time.  Also, knowledge of how to handle this condition is growing day by day.  A child of say around 2 years can be diagnosed, their diet adjusted, their parents trained in ways to help them and deal with thier behaviours, and the child can get special training or schooling.  All these things, and more, combine to help the child find his or her way in this life and their special place in our society.  After all, isn’t growing up learning to deal with life and our own gifts and weaknesses?

But I digress.  Autism Interrupted is a blog by a very special young mother whose life has totally changed from the time she noticed a change in her child’s behaviour.  Following up on her concerns, her son was diagnosed with autism.  Since then she and her husbands lives took a different turn.  They have adjusted wonderfully.  More loving parents cannot be found.  She has learned so much to share with others, and she does.  One way is by co-authoring 5 Minutes for Special Needs, and her first blog – A Piece of the Puzzle – has turned into a wonderful resource on many subjects.

Autism Interrupted is Trish’s blog recording her life dealing with a special needs child.  She expresses her frustrations, failures, triumphs, and joys.  With her unique writing abilities, each post reads like a chapter in a book.  There is something in this blog for everyone.
